Cypress St between W 35th Ave and Quilchena Street

Starting in July 2024, the City will begin trenchless construction on Cypress Street crossing the Arbutus Greenway, as part of the Balaclava South Sewer Separation Project. This project includes replacement of a combined sewer that carries sewage and rainwater in the same pipe. The new separated system will carry sewage and rainwater in separate pipes, increasing system capacity and helping to reduce combined sewer overflows (CSO) in English Bay. The trenchless installation will help minimize construction impacts to the greenway. The new sewers will have a life expectancy of 100 years to help serve this growing neighbourhood.
